I started to see the headlines in the media and then on Facebook and Twitter. It was one shooting after another over the week-end. Here is the list ( but there could be more):

• 8 dead after shooter opens fire ( with 2 AR15s he never should have been able to get his hands on) at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. The shooter bought 2 AR15s legally even though he had a gun taken from him last year after his mother reported him to authorities for being potentially dangerous to himself or others.
• 3 dead and 3 injured in a shooting near an arboretum in Austin, Texas. The shooter is still at-large
• 3 dead at a shooting in a bar in Kenosha, WI
• 1 dead and 1 injured at a shopping mall in Omaha A 16 year old and 18 year old were arrested. This mall was the site of another deadly mass shooting in 2007 when 8 were killed by a gunman.
• 1 dead, 5 injured at a shooting at a vigil for shooting victims in Ohio
• 6 children injured at a birthday party for 12 year olds when a shooter opened fire at a garage in Louisiana where the party was taking place
• 1 seven year old child and her father were shot in their car outside of a McDonald’s in Chicago. The 7 year old died.
• 1 shot dead in a chase after a carjacking in Burnsville, Mn
• several National Guard members were injured by gunfire in Brooklyn Center, Mn when a car drove by with bullet flying, near the scene of the Daunte Wright shooting
• 5 injured in a shooting during a traffic congestion problem in Louisiana

You can’t make this up.

The Gun Violence Archive reports that so far this year, 12, 758 Americans have died from gunshot injuries. There have been 152 mass shootings so far this year. There has been a 73% increase in mass shootings this year over last year.

The forecast is deadly. It’s dangerous. Take cover and don’t go near your windows. Find a safe place where you will be protected from the violence.

It’s like a virus spreading around from city to city. No mask can save us from this one. It’s an ominous sign and we should heed the warning. Guns are almost literally falling from the sky.

Only common sense can fix this.

Let’s do something and do something fast before the virus becomes too virulent to stop. Let’s do something before the winds and hail of bullets harm all of us.
